Marc Edward-Smith: Founder & Chief Instructor of Ultra Krav Maga

Marc Edward-Smith is the founder and Chief Instructor of Ultra Krav Maga, bringing over 16 years of elite Krav Maga training to students. Trained under some of the world’s most respected Krav Maga experts, many of whom are former Police, Military, and Special Forces operatives, Marc has refined his skills to the highest level of proficiency.

Marc’s teaching approach is rooted in passion, dedication, and a commitment to empowering students with the ability to defend themselves and their loved ones in times of crisis. As Krav Maga’s founder, Imi Lichtenfeld, famously said: “We can walk in peace.” Marc instills this philosophy in his students, ensuring they develop the confidence and competence needed to handle any real-world threat.

Before discovering Krav Maga in 2006, Marc honed his combat skills through a variety of martial arts, including Boxing, Judo, and Taekwondo. He was immediately drawn to Krav Maga for its aggressive, practical, and effective approach to self-defence.

Marc began his Krav Maga journey with the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF), eventually transitioning to Krav Maga Global (KMG), the leading governing body of Krav Maga, founded by Eyal Yanilov. Under Yanilov’s mentorship, Marc achieved his practitioner grades and was personally selected to undergo the rigorous 28-day KMG Instructor Course. After extensive training with Ilya Dunsky (Special Forces Instructor), Kvores Tal (Expert 5), and Master Zeev Cohen, Marc emerged with the joint top G2 grade, awarded by Grand Master Eyal Yanilov.

In 2013, Marc earned his United Krav Maga Instructor Diploma under the guidance of Tomasz Adamczyk, Chief Instructor of the United Krav Maga World Association. Marc later served as the UK Director for Combat Krav Maga International (CKMI), further establishing himself as a leading expert in Krav Maga and becoming a Global Representative of The Federation of Israeli Martial Arts (FIMA).

In 2018, Marc launched his own system—Ultra Krav Maga—a streamlined, effective self-defence methodology that incorporates the best elements of every Krav Maga system he’s studied over the years. Ultra Krav Maga is designed to help individuals respond to any real-world threat with speed, precision, and confidence, making it a devastatingly simple and efficient system for modern self-defence.
