Consent Declaration
This consent declaration updates and replaces the version previously sent via email upon confirmation of your free trial and welcome email. Krav Maga is a contact-based training activity, and while every reasonable safety precaution is taken, participants (and parents/guardians of participants under 16) should understand that injuries can occur due to the physical nature of the training. By attending or enrolling your child in Ultra Krav Maga, you acknowledge and accept that you/your child will be participating in a physically demanding activity involving contact, training equipment, and balance exercises. While we strive to provide a safe training environment, there is always a small risk of injury.
If you or your child have any condition or issue that might affect your ability to participate, please inform the instructor before or during the class. This includes any ongoing injury, past health concerns, or physical limitations such as high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, heart issues, medications, joint or muscle injuries, allergies, and mental health or anxiety-related issues. Any such concerns must be disclosed at the start of the class.
Training sessions may take place outdoors or involve the use of gym equipment such as mats, rubber weapons, and benches. You should only use this equipment if you feel confident and capable of doing so. Essential medications (e.g., asthma inhalers) must be brought to class and always kept easily accessible. Students should not attempt any exercise or drill that they feel uncomfortable with or that could trigger or worsen an existing injury. If any injury or illness occurs during the class, you must inform the instructor immediately. Students should arrive prepared with a drink and should avoid eating within two hours of the class.
Ultra Krav Maga strongly advises all students to obtain personal martial arts insurance. If you have tested positive for COVID- 19 within the last 28 days, you must provide a negative test result to the instructor before attending any training. Any injury or illness experienced before class must be reported to the instructor prior to starting. Students are also encouraged to take extra time to stretch and warm up before class begins. A five-minute cool-down period is available at the end of each class for those who wish to stretch.
Parents and guardians of students under 16 should always be presence when their child is training. Juniors will always train within their own age group. Parents/guardian should always inform the instructor prior to any class of any illnesses or injuries their child is experiencing. Parents are always free to request their child not do a drill or take part in an exercise they are not comfortable with. No spectator – even if a parent/guardian or relation – is permitted to take photos or video of the junior classes. Any student not wishing to be photographed or videoed in the family or adult classes should inform the instructor prior class.
If you feel uncomfortable training with another participant or with someone of the opposite sex, please notify the instructor immediately so that alternative arrangements can be made. If you are unable to participate in any part of the class due to religious reasons (e.g., fasting), please inform the instructor at the beginning of the session.
This consent applies to all Krav Maga classes, events, and workshops, including the “House of Pain.” If you are pregnant, you are not permitted to train at Ultra Krav Maga for the safety of both you and your unborn child. Please notify Ultra Krav Maga via email if you become pregnant so that we can freeze your membership until you are ready to return. Protective equipment such as safety goggles is available upon request for specific lessons like knife and stick defences. Sparring is only allowed with the instructor’s permission and when the student has the appropriate, approved protective gear. All male students must wear an approved groin guard. It is also strongly advised to train wearing gumshield but again down to each individual student. While not mandatory for female students, wearing a female groin guard is recommended. Leg guards are required for grading, and arm guards are also advised.
Ultra Krav Maga is a sporting organisation which makes provision for adults, children and young people to learn recreational and competitive Martial Arts disciplines along with fitness classes. We understand that giving safeguarding high priority will help ensure a safe, secure environment for all our students and help encourage wider participation in sport and physical activity. Effective safeguarding practice acts as a preventative measure and will help to create a positive, safe and welcoming atmosphere for the community. All Focus Martial Arts and Fitness coaches recognise they have a duty of care to children involved in the club’s activities and will receive regular training to enable them to make informed and confident responses to safeguarding issues.
We to promote good practice so that children and young people (under 18s) are able to participate in club activities with appropriate safety and protection from harm. Staff are not required to investigate or decide whether abuse has taken place; however it is everyone’s responsibility to act on any concerns by contacting the appropriate authorities. All coaches should be exemplary role models to create a safe and positive culture for sporting activities. The following guidelines will help to ensure this and will also help to protect coaching staff from misunderstandings or false allegations:
Work with young people in an open, visible environment
Treat members of the club with equal respect
Welfare of students and individual development must have high priority
When physical support is needed it should be open and with the student’s full consent
Build strong relationships within the club based upon trust and mutual respect
Feedback to students and coaches must be constructive and developmental
Focus upon making sport fun, enjoyable and promote fair play
Coaching staff must keep up-to-date with technical skills, training and insurance
Children must be encouraged to develop independence with equipment and if support from a coach is needed parents
must be informed.
Mixed groups on a residential activity must be accompanied by male and female adults with current DBS checks.
Have parental consent to administer emergency first aid
Keep a written record of any first aid treatment needed during club activities

It must be acknowledged that the nature of martial arts will make it necessary for coaches to enable children’s technical progress through physical support. This must always be respectful and have the full understanding and consent of both parents and the students.
Ultra Krav Maga have clear procedures to follow should there be a concern about practice or the safety of a child. Concerns should be reported confidentially to the Founder/Chief Instructor immediately so that appropriate action can be taken. The context of the concern will inform the next steps, which could be:
Formal conduct meeting with the staff member concerned
Specific training to enable improvement in practice
Meeting with parents
If abuse is suspected, contact police directly.
Bullying is extremely damaging for both the victim and the perpetrator and should always be taken very seriously. Focus Martial Arts & Fitness works with the community to promote mutual respect, support and encouragement, personal growth and team cohesion. A restorative approach is used to enable positive relationships and resolve personal disputes. Parents will be kept informed and involved at all times and, if necessary, sanctions imposed.
You train and permit your children to train at the understanding there is always a risk of injury during physical activities.
